What are the early signs of perimenopause? And how early can they start?Updated 23 days ago

Symptoms typically begin in the early forties, though for some women, they can start as early as the mid-thirties. Perimenopause itself can last anywhere from 8 to 12 years. It’s important to note that for women who went through a surgical or chemical menopause, symptoms can start earlier. Also, women who suffer from hormonal conditions such as Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), who have an irregular or absent menstrual cycle, may find it more difficult to identify signs of perimenopause.

Many of the early signs of perimenopause are psychological, which can make them difficult to identify. Common symptoms include increased sensitivity to stress, anxiety, and brain fog. These can occur even when periods are still regular, which can be confusing. Women in our community often express frustration that despite following healthy diets and exercise routines, they no longer feel like themselves and find these habits no longer work as effectively, particularly with weight management.
